Susan Eileen Palmer (née Thatcher)
Born in 1947. She studied at High Wycombe College of Art. She visited Sweden on a travel bursary in 1967. She worked in Warner & Sons London studio from 1967-1971. Moved to New York, and then New Providence, Bahamas c.1970s and produced from freelance designs for Warner & Sons.
Sue Palmer born 27/12/47. Joined Warner & Sons on 16th October 1967 with her role described as a ‘Colourist’ in the Studio. Her role at Warner & Sons was her first paid position in interior design after graduating. Originally lived with her family (mother) in Uxbridge when joined.
She studied at Baylis Court Secondary Modern School gaining GCEs in Art, Needlework and Embroidery. She graduated in July 1967.
She studied at High Wycombe College of Technology and Art (now Buckinghamshire New University), in 1965. She gained a Royal Society of Arts bursary for a 1 month travel visit to Sweden.
From c.1971 onwards she was a freelance designer for Warner & Sons.
Sue married musician Robert Palmer, who she met at Slough railway station in 1969. Attracted by her silver-coloured boots and matching mini-dress, along with the science-fiction book she was reading, Robert Palmer struck up a conversation with the designer. They married two years later, and had two children. In 1987, the family moved to Lugano Switzerland. The couple divorced in 1993. Palmer now lives in Arizona.
