The Archive has undertaken special commissions to reproduce designs from the Collection for restoration projects at historic houses, or for interior designers looking for designs to complement a clients’ brief.

Chartwell

The National Trust were looking to create a range of gift shop products for Chartwell, family home and garden of Sir Winston Churchill. Using the Chartwell Lilies design, we worked to incorporate the design across a variety of products including printed cushions, scarves & tea towels.

Honycombe Art Installation

Art Installation at Victoria Square, Braintree, using the Archive design Honeycombe by David Exley, 1974.Originally a gouache on paper collage, inspired by the pictures on bright and cheerful seed catalogues. The individual hexagonal tiles were split out, printed and installed on the wall for public display. 

CareCo

Large display of historical photographs to create a history wall of Braintree’s Textile heritage, at the CareCo company headquarters, Great Notley, Braintree.

Braintree Museum Café

Summer 2023 saw the official opening of a new Café: Something Scrummy at Braintree Museum. The walls are covered with ‘Dene’ a glorious wallpaper produced by Edd and Cassie Nicholas from Dig Haushizzle, inspired by Eva Crofts (1875-1946) who designed for Warners & Sons in the early 1900’s.

Meadow Rise

Art installation in Braintree, Essex, by the artist Katy Beinart, to celebrate the silk weaving industry that shaped the development of the town. Inspired by the intricate patterns in Jacquard loom cards from our Archive.
